It has been a long road to recovery for former soldier Jamie Cooper, but now he is back on track

IT has been a long, hard road In recovery for former soldier Jamie Cooper; but he is now back on track after getting a helping hand from Rugby for Heroes.
Jamie, who at I8 was the youngest soldier to have been injured in Iraq, was hit by two mortar bombs in Basra, which ripped open his stomach and paralysed one of his legs.
To add insult to injury the Royal Green Jackets soldier contracted MRSA twice while undergoing Treatment. Now at 22, Jamie from Kingswood, has found 2 new job as logistics manager at Hovabout a hovercraft company in Burnham-on-Sea But, to get the training he needed to undertake the role.he was put on a five-day course in Staverton funded by Rugby for Heroes.Jamie said “|Without the funding, I wouldn’t have been able to undertake the course and therefore further my career as a health and safety office;”
The teacher training scheme at Lyceus, a training company based at Staverton Airport, was funded by Rugby for Heroes.
The scheme was setup by Q former Gloucester rugby players Anthony Allen and Ryan Lamb who rallied together some of the best players in English Rugby to support servicemen and women.

Jamie’s tutor at Lynoeus, VanessaPollock, said:”The whole class were overwhelmed with his success and I was very pleased for him.” Money raised from the cause will help fund Lynceus education courses to train injured soldiers.
